‘Post Japonism’ is the term that ALMOSTBLACK describes themselves. Channelling the spirt of Japanese military aesthetics with a range of punk, streetwear and rebelliousness. Established in 2015, ALMOSTBLACK has became a platform for Shunta Nakajima and Masaki Kawase. The name “ALMOSTBLACK” comes from the deep indigo technique dues that samurai uniforms would use. Geometric, dark monochrome, and layering are common themes amongst their collections. Post-war Japanese art prints and abstract imagery also adorn the collections.
