British designer Matthew Miller creates clothing from an unorthodox reference point. He stipulates that his clothing belongs in a particular window of time. Akin to the memories one has when listening to a specific song, Miller believes that his clothes should evoke memories and experiences from a specific, pointed period in time. As such, Miller creates clothes that he believes can operate like the memories conjured by music. In addition, Miller creates clothing as a method to convey both political and social poignant messages. His runway collections feature both female and male models, illustrating the primacy of gender fluid, androgynous clothing to Miller.
